A Spanish Bilingual Education For Your Preschooler

Potrero Kids at Daniel Webster (PKDW) is a year round, Spanish bilingual preschool operated by the Potrero Residents Education Fund (PREFund). Open from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and serving three meals a day, PKDW provides high quality preschool services to the working families of San Francisco's Potrero Hill community. PKDW is a unique concept -- a private bilingual preschool located on a public elementary school campus. Considered a pilot program, our preschool is integral to expanding community support for Daniel Webster Elementary School while also providing a much-needed preschool option in Potrero Hill.

Why a Bilingual School?

  • Expands the Mind

The most important goal of our early childhood curriculum is to help children become enthusiastic learners. Exposure to more than one language before age seven greatly expands a child's developing mind and ability to become bilingual. Our teachers capitalize on this unique language learning window by providing instruction, songs, and stories in both English and Spanish.

  • Diversity

Given the rich diversity of San Francisco, parents in our community are particularly interested in raising their children with dual language skills. We strive to complement this diversity by providing children with a bilingual early learning experience that encourages them to become independent, self-confident and inquisitive learners.

  • OUR Goal

To create a trusting environment for children, parents and staff in which the learning that takes place in our program extends beyond our four walls and enriches our families and our community.

  • Our Community

PKDW opened in September of 2008 and serves 38 children, 25% of whom are on scholarship.

  • OUr thanks

To our supporters for their generous contributions to making PKDW a reality.
